Winter Poem on Twitter!

Hello clever Pandas!

Did you ever play that game where somebody writes a line of a story on a piece of paper and then folds the paper over so you can only see the last word..then the next person starts their sentence using the theme of the one word that they can see..and then they fold over their line…and then in the end when you unfold the pieces of paper you have a really cool story???!!! :D Well we want to try something similar to that…by writing our winter poem! :)

We will do this all together on Twitter with our older users. Each panda can post a line of our winter poem using their Twitter account. Then on Wednesday next week, we will post the poem on our blog for everyone to see!

Sounds good! But maybe you should explain what on earth is Twitter…

Twitter is a social media website that’s free, easy to use and will be a fun and creative way for us to write our winter poem! :) With your Twitter account you can post or ‘tweet’ 140 characters at a time, the perfect amount for a line of our poem! To make our poem easy to find we will use a hashtag. Our hashtage is “#en1″.

Sorry… ‘a hashtag’? What are you talking about? :???:

A hashtag is when words or phrases have a hash symbol (#) in front of them. So, when someone searches for the term “#en1″, all tweets with “#en1″ will appear in the search engine results. We have chosen “#en1″ as this is the first poem we are writing in english.

Ok, so Step 1 – log into Twitter Step 2 – search for “#en1″

You can search at the top of the Twitter page

And then you will see all the tweets with our poem?

Yes, but remember that the most recent tweets are on top so start reading from the bottom…

OK, so all you have to do then is ‘tweet’ your line of the poem? :D Ok, I want the first line of our poem to be, hmmm…. “Snowflakes are falling all over Panfu, lots of fun waiting for me and for you. White raindrops on treetops and I cannot see, igloos and snowmen are coming for me!” Oh no…! This is too long :( :???:

Don’t worry Max! You can write it all together like this: “Snowflakes are falling all over Panfu, lots of fun waiting4me&4u.White raindrops on treetops&I cannot see, igloos&snowmen are coming4me! #en1” Then the next Panda can write the next line…

Remember that with Twitter you only have 140 characters and you must put “ #en1 ” at the end of every tweet so we will be able to see your line. Like Max, you may have to shorten what you want to say…

Remember this is your poem so it can be written however you want, all we ask is that it is about winter! And winter is great! There’s snow and igloos, with snowball fights and ice skating..and warm fires after skiing in hats, scalfs and gloves!!!

We are very excited to start writing a poem with all of our clever pandas!

We have started the poem on Twitter so come on Pandas!! Come and write a winter poem with us! We will post the poem on the blog next Wednesday.

Be poetic, Pandas!
