Let’s Talk About SOPA and PIPA!

Hello people! This is my 11th ever post where I talk about something rather more important than just virtual worlds, games and etc. I am pretty sure you recently have all heart about SOPA and PIPA all over again, and again and again…First, for the people new into these kind of stuff,we will say in a few words, what is SOPA and PIPA,too:

The PROTECT IP Act (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 or PIPA)

is a proposed law with the stated goal of giving the US government and copyright holders additional tools to curb access to “rogue websites dedicated to infringing or counterfeit goods”, especially those registered outside the U.S.[1] The bill was introduced on May 12, 2011, by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT)[2] and 11 bipartisan co-sponsors. The Congressional Budget Officeestimated that implementation of the bill would cost the federal government $47 million through 2016, to cover enforcement costs and the hiring and training of 22 new special agents and 26 support staff.[3] The Senate Judiciary Committeepassed the bill, but Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) placed a hold on it.[4]

The PROTECT IP Act is a re-write of the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA),[5] which failed to pass in 2010. A similar House version of the bill, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) was introduced on October 26, 2011.[6]

…Or in other words PIPA is ”Protect IP Act”,which means that it protects your IP on the internet but it actually stops the privacy with it!

In other even clearer words: for example if you upload an unlicensed picture in a site, most possibly, the PIPA ”file scanner robot” will find it and due to it,it might close your profile-(you don’t get access to it anymore!),it might(really badly) damage the whole site!PIPA has the power to shut down the whole site if something unlicensed or illegal is posted on it!I mean, imagine it-a copyrighed video, picture or music is uploaded on YouTube and then ONLY for it…the whole site’s domain might be dissabled or shut down by the U.S. goverment! Also, the ever badder…even if you post a link to a banner site or URL to music/image e.g. the site will again be forced to be banner or closed!

People are protesting against PIPA because it’s getting serious! They want privacy, and also don’t want it to be so hard! They want the make the Internet a fun place to hang out easilly with everyone,no matter what part of the world he is from…what is PIPA trying to turn the Internet into now!?

And also, let’s get to the most important part for everyone…SOPA,the law causing all the attention about 50% more than PIPA.

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)also known as House Bill 3261 or H.R. 3261,

is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representativeson October 26, 2011, by House Judiciary Committee Chair Representative Lamar S. Smith (RTX) and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors. The bill, if made law, would expand the ability of U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods.[2]Presented to the House Judiciary Committee, it builds on the similar PRO-IP Act of 2008 and the corresponding Senate bill, the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA).[3]

The originally proposed bill would allow the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as copyright holders, to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement. Depending on who makes the request, the court order could include barring online advertising networks and payment facilitators from conducting business with the allegedly infringing website, barring search engines from linking to such sites, and requiring Internet service providers to block access to such sites. The bill would criminalize unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content, with a maximum penalty of five years in prison for ten such infringements within six months. The bill also grants immunity to Internet services that voluntarily take action against websites dedicated to infringement, while making liable for damages any copyright holder who knowingly misrepresents that a website is dedicated to infringement.[4]

Opponents claim that it violates the First Amendment,[7] is Internet censorship,[8]will cripple the Internet,[9] and will threaten whistle-blowing and other free speechactions.[7][10] A number of protest actions were organized, including petition drives and boycotts of companies that support the legislation. On January 18 English Wikipedia and several other internet companies coordinated a service blackout to protest SOPA and PIPA.

…In other clearer words SOPA is ”Stop Online Piracy Act”,which means that it is something even harder than PIPA!It basically gets in partnership with PIPA and ”ruins” the Internet, too as many wold say.The SOPA law makes the following things:

  • It essentially creates an internet blacklist in the US, where offending sites are no longer accessible by domain name.
  • If your website has even one piece of infringing material (such as an unlicensed picture on a user page), this material could be used as an excuse to:
  1. Block your domain name, essentially shutting off your site to the US.
  2. Block your advertisers and payment processors.
  3. Block your search engine listings.
  4. Block your IP address or computer.
Also,if you criticize the goverment, they may get you indefinitely detained without trial, for that!

I’ll wrap this up with some links to websites that are actively engaging people to help STOP SOPA:

Stop American Censorship – Submit letters to Congress, petition the State Department, etc.
Stop Censorship – Fill out this form to have your name potentially read during a fillibuster.
Save the Internet! – A big ongoing petition.

The most important thing is that on January 18th,2012 one of the most popular and used sites on the Internet, were blacked out to protest to PIPA and SOPA,and also to make the content on them safer so that during the huge protest, they will make sure the sites are NOT cancelled, blocked or even domain-deleted…and plus-that will be a tragedy to all!

Now,let’s get to some images of protests and etc.,shall we?

This is a serious problem! The Internet needs us,the Internet is in danger! We’ve got to help protect the Internet by making protests and spreading the news about the horrible SOPA and PIPA!

And that is all for my post now, people.Bye for now and see you later! 😀

If you find it a bit maddening to follow the daily fluctuations of the scale even
though you are eating properly, pick three days of the week on which you will always weigh yourself (for example,
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). In fact, I always

to a max of 4 pounds a week so you won’t suffer loose skin post weight loss. The institution has persistently offered ideal programs and services for those struggling to achieve certain levels of body weight.

A more position in picking door knobs is usually fairly intimidating because
the selection is so enormous and also the price ranges so varied.
Despite knowing about the strain in the global economy it was still
extremely surprising to find out who, and she agrees, saying that she could actually write
a very LONG book on this topic! Though company engineers take up a lot of reasons why JELD-WEN fiberglass doors are so popular.
